Catch Up!

I've been a slacker since I got engaged. I have been so busy finishing school and moving home and planning a wedding that I haven't had much time to blog. I'm currently looking for a job, but no luck yet so I figured now was a good time to catch up on the last few months.

March

In march Alex and I took a road trip to Arizona so that he could meet Matt and Karissa and their kids. We left on a wednesday night, stayed with his grandparents in St. George that night, and went the rest of the way on Thursday. We came home on Monday and stopped in Vegas. I had never been so Al had a fun time showing me around! Here's a few pictures from our trip.

Al's stepdad Kenyon was nice enough to let us take the mini because it gets great gas mileage!

Matt and Karissa took us to a spring training game while we were down there! So much fun!

Look at that gorgeous Arizona sunset!

The girls LOVED alex. This was just too cute a picture of Ash not to post!!

They Loved wearing his hat!

We stopped at Hoover Dam on the way to Vegas! What an incredible place!

First stop in Vegas was the M&M factory

I let Alex in on the secret of what green M&Ms mean. He went a little overboard!

Waiting for the water show at the Bellagio.

What a cool show!
This was SUCH a fun trip and I'm so happy Al got to meet the rest of my family!!

Our Story :)

One of my favorite times of the week is when I ride home with my mom from Logan to Salt Lake for the weekend. She comes up once a week to clean my grandma's house and I usually snag a ride home with her. I love the opportunity to have a couple hours alone with her and catch up on the week. She's an incredible woman. This past weekend's conversation we re-lived the last few months since I met Alex. This is basically our story!!

Alex and I met on November 17th. Me and a few of my roommates went down to Provo for the Utah State/BYU Basketball game. My roommate Sarah was dating a boy who went to school down there (they're engaged now too! YAY!) and he told her he was going to bring a few friends with him to meet all of us. We walked up the steps and introduced ourselves and I automatically thought Alex was cute. But I had to sit a few rows down because there wasn't much room. He tried to ask me a couple questions and then when my roommates and I went back over to the Utah State section, we invited him to come with us. Lucky for me he ended up standing next to me. We talked about basketball quite a bit. After the game, we walked back to the boys' apartment. Alex went down the line and got all of our numbers. He texted me so I had his number. I texted him when we got home that night and told him it was nice to meet him. I wasn't really expecting to hear from him again though. However, the next day I was in class when I got a text. It was from Al. We started chatting again and basically never stopped. He texted me for the next week and a half or so. One day we were talking about Mario Kart. I somehow challenged him to a game. He made a bet with me. He said "we'll play and if I win, I get to take you on a date." And I bet that if I won he had to take me on a date. So, either way, I got a date out of it! funny enough, that game still hasn't happened. But I still got my date!

November 26 was our first date. I came down to Salt Lake the day after Thanksgiving. He called me to say that we were going to go sledding and get dinner. So I spent a good couple hours trying to track down some snow pants and stuff. However he called an hour before and said sledding had fallen through and we were going to go ice-skating. Well, my knees are awful and my Dr. has forbidden me from ice-skating so I had to awkwardly call him back and explain. My only thought was, oh shoot. He's gonna think I'm a baby. But he was way sweet about it and we ended up going downtown to look at Christmas lights with his friends Heidi and Mitch. After we went to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant called The Red Iguana. I knew I was starting to sort of like him when I ordered and choked down my meal. I'm probably the pickiest person on the earth, but I pretended to like my food to impress him. Halfway through the date he got kind of quiet and I just figured he wasn't feelin it. I figured it would be another fun first date that never went anywhere. After dinner we went to Mitch's house and watched a movie. Halfway through Al held my hand. On our way home that night, he told me how much fun he had and that we should hang out again. I made up some excuse on the spot of why I was coming back to Salt Lake the next weekend in hopes he would ask me to go out again. It worked! He did!! :) We hung out once more that weekend too.

Our first kiss was the night of December 4th. I guess technically it was only our 2nd official date but we had hung out a couple other times. My family somehow convinced me to invite him to festival of trees with the whole fam damily. Talk about scaring a guy off. But he came along and immediately clicked with everyone and had so much fun! After we met up with some friends to watch a movie. When the movie got over, his friends were hanging around and he said something to them in Spanish. Immediately they got up and left. A couple weeks ago I finally asked him what they had said. I guess he told them he wanted to kiss me so they needed to leave. Haha We were playing a game on his iPhone and when the game ended I went to play again but he grabbed the phone out of my hand and put it in his pocket. I was so confused but a couple seconds later he kissed me so it made sense.

**brief interruption.. I had gone through a stage for quite a few months before where I'd like a guy for a few days and then just get completely bored. It was after about 3 weeks of dating Al that I realized something was different and this could actually be going somewhere!**

The next weekend Al and some friends came up to Logan to go to a game and hang out. And the next weekend I went home again. **Another side note- I hardly ever went home Freshman year... but suddenly I wanted to be home every weekend**. Anyway, on the 18th of December I went to a movie with him and his parents. Afterward, he took me driving. We ended up out by daybreak by the temple. He pulled over and we started talking about us and decided neither one of us were interested in dating anyone else at that time. So I guess we became "official" on the 18th.

The next few weeks were a blast because I was home for Christmas. We spent literally EVERY day together for 3 weeks straight. I had to go back to Logan on the 11th of January and I was so emotional. I realized I was falling fast for this kid.

The next weekend he came up for Martin Luther King day and the whole day he kept going to say something but then he'd bite his tongue and stop talking. I tried so hard to pry whatever it was he wanted to say out of him but he wouldn't budge.. That night as he was leaving I walked him out to the car and was like "k love you bye!" and then i panicked cause we hadn't told each other we loved each other yet and I did NOT want to be the first one to say it. I tried to make a quick cover but I was so mad at myself. Haha Anyway, He came back up to Logan on the 19th for my birthday and that's when he first told me he loved me. The first thing I said was "well, its a dang good thing you finally said it cause I was about to have to!"

About a week and a half later I somehow casually asked if he saw our relationship going somewhere serious and if he could see himself as a part of my family. Well, that opened up about a week's worth of marriage conversations. I'd seriously spend 3 hours on the phone with him every night and we decided that we were both going to pray about it. Well, we both got our answer and went ring shopping about 3 weeks later. The rest is history!!

I know I say this all the time, but I'm so grateful for this incredible addition to my life. He is the most self-less, charitable, good looking, spiritual, and genuine guy I've ever met. I'm a lucky lucky girl. I can't wait for July 7th when I can be sealed forever to my best friend and the love of my life!!

ENGAGED!!!!!

Its true! I'm engaged. AHHHHHHHH. This is such a surreal feeling but I am so incredibly happy!! Everyone has been asking how it happened. So here you go. WARNING- its gonna take awhile to read! I'm using this as my journal entry- that's why you get all the little details!

Alex came over to my house on Saturday afternoon while I was writing a paper. He was taking a nap on the floor. All the sudden he wakes up and says- So I'm starving. Can we go to dinner in like 15 minutes? I thought it was weird because he never times things or makes us go to dinner at a certain time. I asked him if he wanted to double with my best friend and her boyfriend and he said "no- I think it'll just be me and you." So I went and changed my clothes. He kept reminding me to grab a coat. If you know me at all, you know I don't like coats and I don't like people telling me the same thing over and over. So we're about to leave and he says "do you have a coat? I told you you'll want a coat! It's supposed to snow tonight!" Haha so I got all bugged and grabbed my coat. I was so confused why he was acting so weird. So we drove downtown and the valet took the car! On a sidenote, the valet was one of our favorite parts of the night. He took his job so seriously and would be sprinting to open your door or pick your car up for you. :) ANYWAY, so we went to J-Wong's- a really good Chinese restaurant downtown. So we sit down and the waitress brings out a vase of gorgeous red roses. It was awkward though because I didn't know if they were mine or just a centerpiece for the table! So I sat there looking back and forth between the roses and Al. Finally he says, oh, those are yours! So we ate and they brought the fortune cookies out on a plate. They said something like "lots of exciting changes await you in the summertime." On a funny note, he opened his first and didn't want to read it before I saw mine. I kept asking him what it said- he finally was like "um, you'll find love on flag day?" haha that's not what it said- he's such a nerd. Anyway, we walked outside and the valet went crazy again running to get the car. Alex told him to hold off cause we wanted to go for a walk. But then we never started walking. I was so confused. Next thing I know a horse-drawn carriage pulled up. On the seat was the blanket I made him for Christmas along with 6 more red roses. So we rode all around downtown in the carriage. And then we went back to the restaurant. The valet saw us from like a block away and proceeds to scream "DO YOU WANT ME TO GET YOUR CAR NOW!!??" haha Alex told him yes so he went and got it! We get in the car, and I'll be honest, at this point I'm thinking, "if he doesn't propose tonight, this is the meanest trick ever!" So we're in the car and he says, "have I ever showed you where me and my dad used to live?" and I'm thinking "no? is that really what we're going to look at?" haha so he drives me up to the capitol! he pulls over and says, "oh. we just lived in some neighborhood up here." So I'm thinking, we drove all the way up here to see this house and now we're not gonna see it?" I was so confused the whole night. But then he asked me to go for a walk. So we get out and we're passing the old council hall building across from the state capitol. We're walking and he goes, "hmmm look at that big bison statue. Oh, there's two. We should come tour this building sometime!" haha I was like "um... yeah? that'd be fun!" so we start to cross the street and this car is approaching so I'm trying to get out of the way and he just kept pulling me further to the left. So we finally get across the street and he's still pulling me left. I tried walking up the stairs and he was still pulling me left. So I asked him if we weren't supposed to go up that staircase and he goes "meh, whatever. just come up this one!" so we get to the top and there's a bench with a dozen white roses! By this point I knew it was coming. He gave me a big hug and a few seconds later I tried pulling away so I could look at him. He just kept holding onto me. I guess he zipped the ring in his pocket but couldn't get it out and didn't want me to see. So he kept hugging me until he got the ring out. Then he dropped to his knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes of course and then I heard tons of cheering and clapping. My family and his family were both there taking pictures! It was so fun to have everyone there to celebrate with us! I found out after that he had parked in the wrong place and could see everyone trying to re-position behind the wall. He didn't want me to see them so that's why he kept pointing out the Bison and pulling me further to the left. Haha finallly everything from that night fell into place! After we all went out for hot chocolate!

So there you have it! The perfect night! I am so happy and I never imagined I could love someone this much! I can't wait to marry my best friend and spend my life with him!

These are the few pictures I have on my computer right now!

Crazy how you reach a point where you'll sacrifice almost any fun opportunity to be with someone who makes your life a million times better. I'm a lucky girl! :)

20!!

Well, another birthday has come and gone! I can't believe I'm 20! I know that's not technically OLD, but I FEEL old. I still feel like I should be in middle school sometimes. Anyway, here's a quick rundown on the celebration!

Birthdays when you're grown up aren't usually as fun! I had to work and go to class most of the day! But after that I spoiled myself and took a nap (I love naps!). After that I had a very cute boy come up and visit. :) I guess I should officially introduce him on my blog! His name is Alex Petersen and he's from Salt Lake. We've been dating for a few months now and he's an incredible guy!

ANYWAY, so we went to Olive Garden along with all of my friends and roommates in Logan. It was a blast.

Group Shot 1

Group Shot 2

After Dinner we went back to my apartment. My cute roommate Kasey had made me a funfetti cake and my mom had sent a Texas Fudge cake up with Alex. And sweet Arielle got me temptation cupcakes! CAKE EVERYWHERE! It was delicious!
After dinner we opened presents! I have an obsession with taking bubble baths so my roommates got me a bubble bath package! Despite my face, I really did love it. Something about that mask just makes you want to pull a face!

My boyfriend knows me too well! He surprised me with Jazz tickets and a Raja Bell jersey since he's my favorite! We're going to the T-Wolves game next week and we have good seats! I was so excited!

Last but not least, I got these from Alex and his friend Sam a few weeks ago but I'm just going to consider them an early birthday present! If you know me at all, you know how much I love Zebra anything. Introducing my new jammies....

And my favorite picture of the night...
Thanks to everyone who made my birthday so great! I love you all so much!!

Mish-Mash

Ok, so there's a few reasons for this post... The first being that I work in a library and finals are over, which means I'm even more bored than usual. The second being that I had a long chat last night and realized how many random things drive me absolutely crazy! So although I know that no one really cares.... here's a list of things that drive me crazy...

#1. If you know me at ALL, you'll know this is a touchy subject. Its a CRAYON people. not a cran. not a crown. If you insist on calling it a cran then I will just take two letters out of the middle of your name and see how you like it! This debate is over. And I'm right. :)

#2. Ok, so maybe I'm a word geek... I don't really care. Here's a list of words you should never say around people use the word potty. The third is panties. My sister Andrea and I had a discussion. I don't know what it is about that word that makes me cringe but it's honestly just a horrible horrible word.

#3. People who stop and talk in the middle of really busy hallways. I know, this is so random and completely stupid of me to get upset about. But really people? If you're in a really packed hallway (high school, college, movie theater, or really anywhere for that matter) you don't just STOP in the middle and start chatting with your friends. And if you see that people are having to take extraordinary measures to get around you and your possy, just move. Scoot 5 steps to the side and then you can talk for the next 5 hours for all I care.

#4. Everyone knows someone just like the person I am about to mention. The awful facebook complainer. I don't know where they got the idea that facebook was the place to talk about your breakup, you're fight with you're parents, how pathetic you life is, etc.. But I can guarantee one thing... you're life is not getting better if you complain on facebook everyday. In fact, for every depressing post you make, one person is deleting you as a friend. But knowing you, you'll probably just complain about that tomorrow. I wish I could revoke your facebook privelages.

#5. Fake sports fans (mostly just girls). Ok girls, boys like sports. We all know that. And boys like girls who like sports. BUT boys like girls who KNOW sports. For instance, I know squat about football. Seriously, I know close to nothing about it. So if football is on, I sit quietly and admire their nice uniforms and their big muscles. Because I have nothing to offer. Fact is, you're gonna look more stupid if you open your mouth and spout off a bunch of crap that isn't true than if you just admit you don't know what's going on...

Ok, so before you everyone thinks I'm just a bitter negative narcissistic person, I do like a lot of things about life! I promise. I'm a happy person.

#1. Sunsets- I'm obsessed. My camera isn't even fun to look at for other people because it's all sunset pictures.

#2. The smell of fabric softener. I don't know what it is but it puts me in a good mood.

#3. Rain. I love rainy days. I love wrapping up in my blanket and just staring out the window. I've also been known to dance in the rain on occasion.

#4. Play dough. I could play for hours with a chunk of play- dough or silly putty.

#5. Coloring. Coloring books and sharp crayons are my favorite christmas gift so far this year. Yeah, I know- i'm basically a 5 year old. Judge me.

Ok well, there you have it. My 5 biggest pet peeves and 5 of my favorites! Hope you enjoyed yourself!
